Mark Bardsley, incumbent member of the Grant County Board of Commissioners, is seeking the Republican nomination for re-election to his seat representing District 2. The primary election will be held on May 7,

According to his LinkedIn page, Bardsley is currently serving his fifth term as District 2 Grant County Commissioner.

In a press release, RED PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean endorsed Bardsley, listing him as a candidate that "shares our values of supporting private property rights, championing fiscal responsibility, and tirelessly working towards enhancing government transparency." Kolean said that Bardsley "[reflects] the conservative ideals that guide our efforts in rural economic development.”

In 2021, Bardsley was appointed to the Governor's Public Health Commission. Bardsley was elected Grant County Coroner in 2002, where he presided over homicide and death investigations throughout the county. Bardsley holds a number of other county government responsibilities, including serving on the the Economic Growth Council, Emergency Management Agency Advisory Board, and Grant County Drainage Board, the latter of which he chairs.

In addition to being a county commissioner, Bardsley is also the chaplain for the Marion Police Department, a position he has held for over 28 years. From 2017 to 2019, he served as President of The International Conference of Police Chaplains. He earned a BA in Christian Ministries and Biblical Literature and an MA in Ministerial Education, both from Indiana Wesleyan University, where he was also an adjunct professor in Adult Professional Studies for more than 20 years.

According to their website, the Grant County Board of Commissioners serves as the county's executive body, and they are tasked with "executing the acts legislated by the council, the collection of revenue, and managing the day-to-day functions of the county government." The commission is made up of three members who are elected to staggered four-year terms, with one member — usually the most senior — serving as president.
